Barry Watkin explores techniques, painting a variety of different subjects in his studio and in the beautiful Somerset countryside. Applying pastel over watercolor and over Indian ink produces a strong range of tones, while water added to pastel in a painting of lowers results in interesting textures and rich colors. His use of both linear and broken color techs gives an impressionistic feel to his work and pastel applied in layers using fixative produces a very strong vibrant painting.
